Price Guidelines

We can provide price ranges for your vehicle, if it is not a streetrod/custom and it is in the range of 1900 to 1980. There are some marquees from the early period of the 1900's and some European marquees for which we don't have any information.

You fill out the form below with info on the vehicle and send it to us. We will reply by email with some price guidelines. The cost is FREE.

The pricing is an estimate of the value of the vehicle, based on its condition. The prices are compiled from sources such as auctions, private sales, dealers, publications, car clubs and enthusiasts. The prices are for "original" cars, i.e. they have not been seriously modified (not converted into streetrods, customs). This is not to say that there are no deviations from the original manufactured condition. Examples would be tires, wheels, electrical systems (6v to 12V), etc. At the upper end of the condition scale (#2), these could result in some reduction in price, but at the lower-middle of the condition scale may not have much effect on the price.

The price that your vehicle is influenced by such factors as market conditions, region of the country, options, color and equipment. It is not unusual, for instance, for options such as air conditioning (before it was generally standard) to add 3-5% to the price. Also, bigger engines (more hp) also result in an increase in price. The bottom line is that the price for your vehicle should be evaluated in light of these guidelines.

One of the more difficult tasks you will have is to determine the condition that your vehicle is in, relative to the commonly accepted rating systems. Of course, the vehicle may be "in-between" the ratings that are used. The most common problem is that of over-estimating the condition that the vehicle is in. The following descriptions are for the categories for which prices are provided:

The key to getting a reasonable estimate of your car's value is to fairly evaluate its condition.

Condition #1
This vehicle has been restored to perfection. It would score close to 100 points in a National show judged by marquee experts. It is only trailered and not driven. This category is often referred to as Concours quality. Consequently, there are very few of these vehicles.

Condition #2
This vehicle has been professionally restored. It would normally win a trophy in most shows and competition. Would score in the range of 90-95 points in a judged meet. It would often be trailered and occasionally driven.

Condition #3
Probably an older restoration or a clean vehicle with no major cosmetic/mechanical problems. It might have some wear on interior areas such as seats, carpets, foot pedals. The chrome would be very presentable, but would not have the mirror quality it had when new. Most cars in shows are in this category. On a judging point scale, it would be in the range of 80-89.

Condition #4
Probably the easist way to identify this vehicle is that it is a "driver". It would not be missing any major parts. The exterior and interior would be showing its age. It might have minor rust on the body/chassis. A common way of describing this condition is that at 20 feet away most flaws may not be observable. On a judging point scale it would be in the range of 70-79.

Condition #5
Generally termed a "Project" car, but needs about everything to be a driver. Might not be driveable, but should be complete. Could have been in storage. These cars would not normally be at a show, unless it is a swap meet. Sometimes purchased for parts.

Condition #6
This is definitly a "parts" car. If not purchased for parts, it is a candidate for the crusher.

Now that you've waded thru all this, it is time to get to the numbers.
